Research Interest
My research is focused on investigating the effects of chronic intermittent hypoxia: cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying autonomic responses in a rodent model. The main areas of my research are 1) Significance of hypoxia inducible factors in IH-induced oxidative stress, 2) Epigenetic mechanisms regulating IH-induced oxidative stress and 3) effects of oxidative stress on insulin metabolism and ion channels all of which play a critical role in the pathogenesis of cardio-respiratory complications associated with sleep apnea.
